Hawaii – The way to start off a year!!

So we’re a week and a half into 2009 and I’ve been in Hawaii for just over a week now, and as much as I love the snow and love how some people just can’t handle it, I got out of Vancouver at the right time. In fact, the snow fall was so large that our flight was delayed for 2 hours, and our friend’s flight was delayed by a day on the following day.

But we got in safely and the weather has been treating us well. With temperatures around 30 degrees all the time and sun for most of the day, there is nothing to complain about. We flew into Kona on The Big Island and spent one full week at a condo resort. There was at least 1 or 2 hours of beach time everyday at some of the nicest beaches I’ve seen. The variety of beaches ranged from white sand, black sand, grass, reef, rocky, lava rock, and pebble. We did them all. We swam, we snorkelled, we hiked, and we drove the entire island twice. For sights we saw volcanoes, lava flows, valleys, jungles, rain forests, waterfalls, ranches, and turtles.

Thanks to Joern and Crystal for having their wedding at such a wonderful place.  Congratulations and best of luck for everything. Stefan and I are now on the North Shores of the island of Kauai’i for the next 2 weeks for some surf and work.  From there, we have no plans!
