Five Days in Iceland in Five Minutes
From the footage we took on our trip through Iceland last year, we put together a 5 part video series called Lost in Iceland as well as a short video summary of our trip called Five Days in Iceland in Five Minutes.
After our Iceland trip, I was contacted by some producers at Al Gore’s Current TV about submitting content to their television channel, as they were launching a new concept featuring user-created content. They said they saw our Touring Van videos and were interested in my travel videos in general.
I told them about our Iceland trip and the short video that I’ve done and they were interested. I quickly put together some licensing agreements with my friends at Hot Wax and Champagne to use their music in the video and our feature Five Days in Iceland in Five Minutes began airing on Current TV in the US a few months later.
Later that year, a friend told me she saw the video on their cross-Atlantic flight on the Current TV channel on the plane. A year later, I was visiting Cali Joe in Ventura, CA and they happened to have Current TV in their cable package. Curiously I turned it on, and within 10 minutes, my feature was playing on TV. That was a nice surprise.
Mind you, this was before Youtube and Vlogging become the phenomenon that it is with user-created content. But it was still neat to see. Here it is.
